Courses in Boating

Look for our ad in the Elgin Market for courses and registration dates.  If you are interested in our courses, you can also call 637-BOAT (2628) to leave your name and number or email address and we'll get back to you.

BoatPro will be held May 23 & 30, 2006.  Cost is $60.  Students obtain their Pleasure Craft Operators Certificate (PCOC).  Contact our training department if you are interested.

All courses are held at St.Joseph's High School, Fairview Avenue, in St.Thomas on Tuesday evenings starting at 1900 (7:00pm).

Boating and Seamanship Sail courses were completed in February.  Check back with us in the fall to see what we'll be offering and when registration will take place.

The Marine Radio Seminar just finished.  Students obtained their Restricted Operators Certificate with the new DSC (Digital Selective Calling) endorsement.  Contact our training department if you are interested and we'll contact you when the next class dates are confirmed. 

Operator Competency Requirements (PCOC)

Individuals requiring the Pleasure Craft Operators Certificate are operators of a pleasure craft, fitted with a motor and used for recreational purposes:

  • Who were born after April 1, 1983
  • Whose craft is under 4 metres (13 feet 1 inch)
  • By September 2009, whose craft is any length
